Curation
“They brought me rubies from the mine and held them to the sun. I said, they are drops of frozen wine from Eden’s vats that run.” So said Ralph Waldo Emerson in his poem “Rubies,” which couldn’t be more appropriate when viewing this 5.01-carat natural Mozambican ruby. It looks like it was plucked from a vineyard in paradise! Its magnificent clarity and glorious color, unenhanced by heat treatment, are undoubtedly intoxicating. This ruby also has a cushion shape that’s a bit shallow, allowing it to sit low on the finger. Imagine it then in a lovely ring design that lets you drink in its splendor.

Special Characteristics

Large Size:
The size of this gemstone is large compared to the commonly available sizes in this species/variety, making it rare and highly sought-after.

Velvety Appearance:
This gemstone exhibits an appearance that is classified as "velvety". Such an appearance results from very fine microscopic particles that scatter light, causing the coveted visual effect without negatively affecting the gem's transparency. Gemstones with a velvety appearance have little to no extinction, display a warm glow, and look very pleasing to the eye. Therefore, velvety appearance is considered a highly sought-after trait in gemstones. The most prominent examples of gemstones coveted for their velvety appearance are the legendary Kashmir sapphires.
