Curation
Here's an outstanding example of alexandrite - the rare chrysoberyl variety often likened to a chameleon that changes its skin color in response to its emotions and differences in light/temperature. Originating from the Orissa state in India, this 2.50-carat alexandrite displays a natural color change from a smoldering green in daylight or fluorescent light to a purplish-red in incandescent light, as certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Adding to this alexandrite’s remarkable qualities are its exceptional loupe-clean clarity and an elongated, octagonal shape with step cuts that highlight its beauty. Wear it with love, and let it dictate your mood!

— Harshil Zaveri, Founder & CEO

Special Characteristics

Velvety Appearance:
This gemstone exhibits an appearance that is classified as "velvety". Such an appearance results from very fine microscopic particles that scatter light, causing the coveted visual effect without negatively affecting the gem's transparency. Gemstones with a velvety appearance have little to no extinction, display a warm glow, and look very pleasing to the eye. Therefore, velvety appearance is considered a highly sought-after trait in gemstones. The most prominent examples of gemstones coveted for their velvety appearance are the legendary Kashmir sapphires.

Exceptional Quality:
The overall quality of this gemstone is classified as "exceptional". Its unique combination of extraordinary color, remarkable clarity, and superior appearance make it almost impossible to replace.

Superior Cutting:
The cut grade of this gemstone is classified as "superior". It has been masterfully cut by our highly skilled gem cutters (lapidaries) to bring out its best qualities and diminish any perceived imperfections. This gemstone is symmetrical, well-proportioned, and has an excellent surface polish. Therefore, it displays the maximum dispersion, scintillation, and fire.
