Gemstone, Origin & Treatments

Natural Beryl

Gemstone & Variety:
Natural Aquamarine

India

Treatments:
Undeterminable

Gemologist's Comments on Treatments:
Aquamarines are commonly subjected to low-temperature heat treatment to improve their color. It's also possible for this heating process to occur naturally when the gemstone is in the earth. Determining if the heating was done by man (as a treatment) vs. heating by nature may be difficult, if not impossible.

After conducting an advanced gemological examination of this stone, our gemologists could not conclusively determine whether it has undergone any heat treatment to improve its color or not. Therefore, the following grade has been applied: "Application of heat currently undetermined (commonly enhanced by heat)."
